Lodging
Dating back to 1865 when it was known as Camp McGarry this historic
14,000 acre working cattle ranch retains the feel of a welcome oasis
in the desert. The stone officer's quarters and stables are still
in use. The main bunkhouse has 10 separate rooms all nicely decorated
to allow you total comfort while still having the feel of being
"in the bunkhouse" just as the cowboys have always been.
We offer your choice of beds from bunks to queens. The main living
room features a huge stone fireplace and plenty of room to stretch
out or play a game of cards. We have one suite for those who want
a little more privacy. You'll enjoy the hardwood floors and western
decor; complete with kitchen, living room, bath, and one bedroom.
Recreation
Experience ranch life as it was and still
is, in much of the West. You will ride with the cowboys and help
them with whatever cattle work they have planned for that day. If
you want a shorter ride guided trail rides are available. You don't
have to ride! We offer a "lodge" rate if you want to explore
the area on your own. Enjoy the natural hot springs, search out
the mustangs, drive to the historical High Rock Canyon where wagon
train ruts are still visible. This area is well known by 4-wheelers,
hikers, rockhounds, mountain biker's, hunter's, and folks who just
want to get away for awhile. There is an annual cattle drive in
the late spring, horse training seminars and guided history jeep
tours
Interest for Children
Children are welcome, but there are no special
activities for them. Children must be experienced riders if they
intend to ride and are the sole responsibility of their parents.
Having said that, most kids love the hotsprings, hiking, and just
have a ball exploring the ranch.
Food and Liquor
Our accomplished chef will provide hearty ranch style meals complete
with homemade bread and desserts. We serve breakfast early with
the cowboys (unless you can convince the chef to wait for you),
a light lunch and a hearty supper featuring Beef and lamb. Soldier
Meadows does not hold a liquor license, but you are welcome to bring
your own adult beverages. We do not serve lunch but have a refrigerator
available for guest use.
Business and meetings
Capacity up to 23. Nice retreat area , no phones, no faxes so this
is serious no interruption play or work time!. We can customize
your meeting and can accommodate up to 23. Church groups are welcome
and we do welcome camp outs, charging only for meals and showers.
Group discounts are available.
History and Hosts
Hosts: Mackey & Candi Hedges Mac is the best selling author
of the book titled "The Last Buckaroo" and truly is one
of the "Last Buckaroo's" himself! His story telling is
often the highlight of supper in the cookhouse
